TATP is the chemical that was used in the London bombings and is also responsible for this young man’s death. Richard at Hyscience posted about the unreliable and unstable nature of this combination of chemicals, although easy to obtain.
Acetone peroxide(C9H18O6), or TATP(triacetone triperoxide), the explosive used in this blast and London’s blasts, is a high explosive that can be made from common household items such as drain cleaner(sulfuric acid - H2SO4), hydrogen peroxide(H2O2), and acetone(CH3COCH3), a common organic solvent. It is actually a mixture of stereoisomers. In its finished form it is almost undetectable by sniffer dogs or conventional bomb detection systems.
One little caveat to remember if you’re a wanna-be bomb-maker: TATP is very very unstable [“Frankly, I wouldn’t like to be wandering around with 10lb of TATP on my back.”: ]
In the occupied Palestinian territories, you can always tell who the ‘engineers’ (bomb-makers) are: they’re the ones covered in burn marks who might be missing fingers, or even a whole hand, who make bombs for the young suicide bombers sent to kill Israelis by the Islamic militant organisations such as Hamas. And there, as in London, their explosive of choice is triacetone triperoxide or TATP. And TATP is the reason for the engineer’s disfigurement.
And in this case, TATP is responsible for this man’s DEATH. Thank God he didn’t take any “infidels” with him. Can you imagine what would have happened had he successfully attached bombs to the buses? I shudder to think of it. I wonder what happens to a guy like this when he accidentally offs himself while waging jihad against the unbelievers? Does he still get his 72 virgins?

He later told FBI agents the device — a modified carbon dioxide cartridge filled with gunpowder — was “basically a pipe bomb,” according to court papers that he had forgotten was in his bag. (Former Oklahoma City, OK Mayor Kirk Humphreys– who was also DREYLING’S landlord– spoke on behalf of DREYLING at his bail hearing).
# On a bus trip to the University of Oklahoma, Zacharias MOUSSAOUI was on the same bus as Nicholas BERG, the American man who was beheaded in Iraq in 2004 by Islamic terrorists. I don’t know where you get that number, but considering there have been 3,032 terrorist attacks altogether across the globe since 9/11, I think that’s pretty good.
If we pull out of Iraq, though, I’m sure they’ll focus their intentions on us even more –thinking that we won’t fight them–and we’ll have many repetitions of 9/11.
One guy blowing himself up isn’t bad.
The other 50 attacks that you mention–where is the documentation or the link to this information, or are we supposed to believe you on simple blind faith?
Considering your position on issues that is rarely based on fact but is based on inflammatory rhetoric, I insist to see where you got that information.
We’ve also arrested over 50 terrorists since 9/11. The list at that link is incomplete–I think it only covers 2001-2002. No thanks to the ACLU who defends their “rights”–even if they’re not citizens.

When I heard this story break and the first explanations being given by authorities, I had some serious doubts about the accuracy of the motive. Depressed people that are suicidal usually suffer from a low energy level. I can’t imagine that this guy’s sole motive was to commit suicide, when there are methods that are much less work to implement.
The fact that all of this material was found in his home, only supports my theory, even more so.

The number, Cao, is from the Bush administration. Check out their annual terrorist report. Same one where you got the 3,000+ number.
Iraq is a recruiting ground for terrorists. The people showing up to fight were not militant before the Iraq War. The best and brightest are pulled out of the fight to carry in on in Bali, Madrid, London — and coming soon — a town near all of us — again.
If we’d made quick work of al Qaeda in Afghanistan by capturing bin Laden, we would have sent a clear message to the world not to mess with us. But instead of finishing the job at Tora Bora, W decided to go after the oil fields in Iraq. Yep. That’s his latest reason for going into Iraq. Check out the quote from late August:
“They’d [terrorists] seize oil fields to fund their ambitions. They could recruit more terrorists by claiming a historic victory over the United States and our coalition.”
The fields would not be threatened by terrorists if we hadn’t turned Iraq into a terrorist recruiting office.
Meanwhile, the man behind 9/11 is going unpunished.
It took the US less time to defeat Hitler and Japan than it’s taken us to find bin Laden. That only encourages terrorists. They think they can get away with attacking us or our allies because there is no quick justice.
Now we’re fighting to establish an Islamic Republic in Iraq. They’ll be closer to Iran than any democracy. And the Iraq War has chilled the Democracy Movement in Iran that just before the invasion looked like a new revolution that would have toppled the Iranian government.

Denny, I sometimes wonder if you really have such a twisted view of reality. If you do, it’s quite incredible how much your blind hatred of Bush shows through.
On the other hand, I sometimes think you don’t actually believe anything you type because it’s simply so preposterous, and you just type it to get negative attention.
Of course, you may have heard it repeated so many times by the left and the media that there were no terrorists before 9/11 that you might actually believe it.

Actually since 9/11 ‘thereligionofpeace.com’ shows there have been over 3,000 terrorist attacks worldwide–so this list is incomplete at least on that score. But it’s still a pretty long list, lol! I’m sure that if people studied it a little more we could find just as many terrorist attacks in the time before 9/11….if not more.

March 30-April 2nd - A bomb exploded on a TWA flight 840 from Rome as it approached Athens airport. The attack killed 4 U.S. citizens who were sucked through a hole made by the blast, 1 infant, and 9 injured, although the plane safely landed.
April 6 - An explosion at the “La Belle” nightclub in Berlin, U.S. soldiers’ hang-out, was bombed, killing 3 and injuring 230 people, including 79 U.S. soldiers.
Sept. 5 - Pan Am Boeing 747 Flight 73 en route to Frankfurt and on to New York hijacked by Palestinian terrorists, with 379 passengers, including 89 Americans, 22 hostages killed, 127 wounded.

March 16 - 4000+ Kurdish civilian bodies found after Saddam Hussein ordered nerve gas attack (weapon of mass destruction) in northern Iraq, after they revolted against his rule from Baghdad. 1.5 million relocated, 200,000 disappeared.

And, just to rock your boat a little more, Gateway Pundit now sites sources saying the guy had a Pakistani roommate and attended mosque down the street. Personally, I think there is more than one collaborator considering the amount of explosives at the apartment. i believe that we are not getting all the info because the FBI wants to keep it hush hush while they investigate other leads. don’t want to scare off the potential suspects by telling them you know the guy wasn’t working alone. Please recall what occured after the London Bombings. all of the helpers tried to get the heck out of England.

50 attacks on US soil since 9/11 isn’t the kind of thing you hear in one of W’s stump speeches.

In the past few months, we’ve seen a new terror offensive with attacks on London, and Sharm el-Sheikh, and a deadly bombing in Bali once again.”
Perhaps if we’d finished off al Qaeda at Tora Bora before launching a misguided adventure into Iraq for non-existent WMDs, we would have sent a real message to our enemies, instead of inviting them to “bring it on.”
